Chase Carey
Former D*recTV CEO Chase Carey will be paid handsomely in his new position as News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch's right hand man, reaping as much as $43 million in salary and bonus in his first year.
According to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission late Wednesday, Carey's five-year employment deal includes a base salary of $8.1 million, a $10 million signing bonus and performance incentive bonuses - including restricted stock - ranging from zero to $25 million per year, based on News Corp.'s profits.
Carey, who had worked in several top management positions at News Corp. prior to becoming CEO of D*recTV in 2004, announced his decision to return to his former employer as president and chief operating officer in June. He assumed his new position, effective July 1. Carey replaced former president and COO Peter Chernin, who announced his decision not to renew his employment contract in February.
D*recTV said executive vice president of legal, human resources and administration Larry Hunter would serve as interim CEO in addition to his current duties as the satellite giant looks for a permanent successor.
The compensation package is comparable to Chernin's who received $28.8 million in total compensation in 2008 ($8.1 million in salary and about $20 million in stock awards and incentive bonuses). Chernin, who left News Corp. to start his own television and film production company, has a deal with his former employer that requires News Corp. to finance and distribute two films per year for the next six years from his production company.

milkdud020 07-02-2009, 07:01 PM What this means is, the community needs to setup a coder’s-jackpot account with PayPal, or whomever, so that people across the community can donate. Using a minimum $$$ amount or whatever one could afford.
And the accumulation amount will go to the first coder that comes up with a N3 fix. I think something like this will defiantly encourage the coders
duuuuuumb 07-02-2009, 07:33 PM sure i'll set up a box like that, but i cant promise all the money will be availiable when its cracked, legal issues of course. ;)
They offered the job to me but couldn't guarantee me all the green M&M's I wanted, so I had to tell them no thanks and that I would just stay at Wally World. I guess they have to do something with all that money they have. But can he do the dishes?:|>
biged 07-02-2009, 08:19 PM And them SOB wounder why you cant afford there sarevess
After the release of the current unemployment figures today, it's a huge slap in the face to all the people who can't find even a mediocre job. This guy ain't curing cancer or making any contribution to humanity in general. It's just another example of corporate greed gone wild. Disgusting on so many levels.:thmbdn:
Max Power 07-02-2009, 11:30 PM After all the crap thats has just gone on and thousands losing their jobs, these idiots STILL havent learned a thing!!!
And they dont even bat an eye when we question the outrageous prices that we are forced to submit to!
Is it any wonder why people find ways to make a dollar go further?
I am sick of the garbage that collect huge salaries and dont give a second thought to the people they are putting out on the street. They just gots ta get payed!!
Corporate America better wake up soon before all the money is gone and everyone is living a modern day re-make of The Grapes of Wrath.
Whats worse is that before long we will be in a society where the top 1% live like royalty and the rest spend their time in a ****ens-style slave labor factory and try not to get in trouble with the police state that is currently being instituted.
Whew, that rant kind of hurt! lol
I do feel a little better though.:)

I feel your pain but I won't fault somebody making bank if he is deserving. Dir**tv is the #1 sat provider and making millions of profit, be mad at the CEO's of citibank, GM's and whoever needs bailout.making money doesn't make you an evil person.
Max Power 07-02-2009, 11:49 PM I was refering to all the corporate greed heads that are destroying the economy.
I dont happen to agree that it's just dandy that these guys are getting obscene amounts of money for what they do.
I do think that people ought to be properly compensated for a job well done but this stuff is just getting out of hand.
Just my opinion my friend.
major1 07-03-2009, 12:21 AM I agree that the CEO's are probably overpaid -BUT- at least those companies are providing some jobs for other people. What about ALL the sport figures and all their obscene salaries who provide FEW jobs for others?
Max Power 07-03-2009, 12:41 AM I have to agree with you there bud.
I was just listening to the deals being made today in hockey and they are just out of control!
I love hockey but there is no way anyone is worth the kind of money being thrown around. And as you said, the number of ancillory jobs created is small.
And as you also said, at least the big companies provide jobs to more people but it still doesnt mean that these people are worth the sort of salaries being given.
It's almost as if the more outrageous their demands are as far as compensation, the more they are worth. Give them the dough if they come up with a cure for cancer, figure out how to feed everyone on the planet or at least provide clean drinking water for everyone. If they can do that I have no problem paying whatever they want.
Have a good evening.:)
