View Full Version : Warning About PM Link Spamming
n3xtgen 07-09-2009, 03:58 PM It has been brought to my attention that there are several high ranking members of FTABins.NET that are recruiting members to come to their sites. This is being done primarily by way of pm's. This is a direct rule violation (Rule #10 (http://www.ftabins.net/announcement.php?f=70)) and this type of sneaky behavior will not be tolerated.
We have been made aware of who these high ranking members are, and we are watching them for a continuation of this practice. We do not appreciate the actions of these people.
If this practice continues by the ones responsible, they will be dealt with appropriately. Consider this a warning.
If you receive one of these Private Messages, please report it to one of the moderators on the forum, you will be given rep points for your cooperation as a reward.

Ali_b 07-09-2009, 04:29 PM Thanks for this important news break. Several high ranking members of FTABins.NET are recruiting members to come to their sites? This is being done primarily by way of pm's? This is a direct rule violation (Rule #10) and this type of behavior is real sneaky and they would know this and did not care? I think there might be spies here. That's a Low Down Dirty Shame.
Come on please please please some please pm me to recruit me to your sight.I need those +rep:yes::twisted:
wildman25276 07-09-2009, 04:42 PM Rep points- get them while their hot! Sad that people would want to leave here- all the free support and
information here has helped the masses. Yes, some posts get closed- but choices have to be made to uphold
integrity and prevent things from getting out of hand. I guess you can't make everyone happy, but they
try awfully hard here. Thanks

Well I do think your getting this is because sometimes your afraid to post in here of the fear of going to the reading room or not being able to express your opinion with the fear of having your post deleted etc etc. If its coming from some of your so called high ranking members, it should tell you a little something!!!
superbrad 07-09-2009, 04:56 PM Well I do think your getting this is because sometimes your afraid to post in here of the fear of going to the reading room or not being able to express your opinion with the fear of having your post deleted etc etc. If its coming from some of your so called high ranking members, it should tell you a little something!!!
I have never seen anyone get sent to the readers club without breaking site rules... if people don't like the site that is fine... they can go elsewhere or start their own..... but trying to steal members is pretty low

Posting doesn't get you sent to the principals office unless you attack someone, intentionally try
to inflame people, or post repeatedly because you feel that you're not answered quickly enough. Post
with decency, and no one will bother you. Hopefully, you'll stay and find out for yourself.
grunt 07-09-2009, 04:58 PM Not good . i know One thing . This is fabulous site ,and I also been to others but this place is the spot . sad to see high ranking members making moves like that . but as u see FTAbins is better then that .
mouchers 07-09-2009, 05:01 PM Well I do think your getting this is because sometimes your afraid to post in here of the fear of going to the reading room or not being able to express your opinion with the fear of having your post deleted etc etc. If its coming from some of your so called high ranking members, it should tell you a little something!!!
Yes They're telling people to go to their sites... :thmbdn:
Ali_b 07-09-2009, 05:09 PM Exactly what category of high ranking members are talking about here? They know themselves, and if they have not been drawn up or warned, so long as they are here they will know that their sneakiness is no longer private so pointing them out specifically is no big deal.It is safe to know who to trust.

Just because they started another site doesn't mean you can't trust them..... this is not designed to be a witch hunt... I don't think so anyways..... they need to be put on notice that they are breaking site rules etc....... anyways.. it is for the admins and mods to deal with
Ali_b 07-09-2009, 06:22 PM Your point taken superbrad, but if they start their own site they need to let it be found by would be members ,not steel members in a sneaky way at that.If my ambition tells me to start my own site and I have to steel to build it,then that would be no good merit.Respect and trust are earned by good attributes, attitudes and morals.Personally I don't trust anyone who acts in a way,do things in a way that tells me such one is a low down scum,a deceiver and one who will seek to be happy at the expense of others. If they seek to steel members, what they wont want to steel if they are not steeling others things already?
superbrad 07-09-2009, 06:29 PM Well... nobody said they were stealing... opening a site and pm'ing your friends about it is not stealing..... that being said opening a site.. coaxing people to leave this one and stealing a bunch of info from this one and posting it as your own invention is wrong.... we will see how this plays out.....
lazyj 07-09-2009, 06:48 PM their lucky they got a warning.

That's right, let's see.Maybe my eyes are wide shut,or maybe not.
Bradman 07-09-2009, 08:23 PM don't known why anyone would go elsewhere its all right here
I thank all those who have helped me over the last little while
i would not leave here why fool with a good thing

Intention is just as good as action

True, nobody said they did, but if they try and succeed, mission accomplished.
Lost Soul 07-09-2009, 08:44 PM I find it kinda funny, this happens everywhere, but this means someone ratted them out also. Sites want you because you can either help, or bring something they need ?? Why would one consider leaving unless a site has out lived itself. This place still rockin so why leave ??
MidNightWatcher 07-09-2009, 08:47 PM We don't mind members who are friends talking about whatever they want in PM including other websites but when you are actively PM'ing strangers and trying to get them to join your site that's crossing the line.

Why should anyone be afraid of getting a thread closed or delete? Even a 10 day vacation in the Readers Club is no big deal. If you think this site is some how oppressive you must not be apart of many sites because this one is extremely lax and we only ban people when we absolutely have to.

Now that you mentioned it's random to anybody, ban there asses.......as stated friendships are made but random is bullsh*t...........period.
ddssse 07-09-2009, 08:59 PM it's too bad. in the short time i've been here i like this site. having been to other sites that either lie about the files they have, are subscription services(which is fine too if they don't lie about having n3 bins) or try to get you sign up to some service called zango or wango or tango by putting it on their front page and making it seem like you have to sign up to get in, i have found a lot of info here and believe when n3 is cracked it will be available here as soon as anyplace else.

this is the best site there is,,thats why thes thread was started,,to keep it that way
dodgesonly 07-09-2009, 09:06 PM Well I can understand the uproar, but it just seem to me posting, and private messaging are two entirely different things entirely. I have had a couple of these P.M's by certain unnamed high ranking members, REQUESTING me to join their site. But it just seemed to me to be a harmless request, sorry if this offends any member or mods . Not quite the same thing to me as starting a thread stating (join my site, cause ftabins stinks?)
I love this site as much as the next person, the greatest site hands down. The mods, administrators, all the members combined with with archives + guides , search options, has provided me with a tremendous data of knowledge over the last couple of years. To me, FTA bins will always be my home, as long as I am welcome.
It just seems to the members that object to the PM's should kindly reply with a "no thank you" and let it rest. Because I'm sure the high ranking members that P.M.'ed you WILL. And I bet that will be the end of the discussion altogether.
The few that have P.M.'ed me have been great members to this site, and quite few "stickies" have been authored by them. I hope the Administrators and Mods take this into consideration before making a final decision on this subject .
myplace 07-09-2009, 09:13 PM great place here stay with in the rules your ok ,if you can't stay away thanks
dodgesonly 07-09-2009, 09:25 PM Rule #10 - No posting of names and/or links to other FTA or FTA related websites. This includes FTA based forums, websites, stores, etc. The exception are links to manufacture websites and/or Advertiser/Sponsor websites of FTABins.NET.
Rule #10 (as I read it) pertains to posting, and not Private Messages. Although May may be changed very soon, true.
frog12 07-09-2009, 09:29 PM some site read private messages , there is a hack at v-bulliten for this , not sayen they do it here
dmantom 07-09-2009, 09:29 PM Don't you think that if n3xtgen says its a rule violation then it is? umm... wouldn't want to test that one but go ahead if you want to:) . The rule is pretty clear and does not distinguish between public or private. If it's discovered then it is a rule violation.
dodgesonly 07-09-2009, 09:41 PM I understand that, DM, and not challenging n3's authority in any way at all. Just stating that if this is the way that rule #10 was interpreted by me, then possibly the "higher ranking" members understood it the same way. And possibly thought the P.m's might have been acceptable. Not trying to argue at all, just stating my opinion on the matter.
dmantom 07-09-2009, 09:43 PM You are likely correct. Not faulting you for yer opinion and its a valid one:)
n3xtgen 07-09-2009, 09:55 PM dodgesonly is correct, the rule was not as clear as it should have been, allow me to to fix that.
el_profeta 07-09-2009, 10:23 PM Good afternoon ...
The comments here do, could be done in the area in Spanish, in this area could also pass the same .. thanks
sorry traduction!!!!
pervous 07-09-2009, 10:37 PM Easy fix, disable pm....That is what I had to do on 2 of my sites...Same thing was going on people spaming for other sites all the time. And got tired of dealing with all the BS that comes with it, so I just disabled the pm's....Solved all the problems....lol
sutts 07-09-2009, 10:47 PM Well let us speculate the motive behind this ? These so-called high ranking members see that if you can get so many peeps paying a membership then there is possibly some $ to be made ? Remember speculation!! or maybe they want to recruit peeps in the know? Remember speculation!! or maybe just maybe I am out of maybe,s ?
dodgesonly 07-09-2009, 10:49 PM Thanks Dm and n3x for letting me know I'm not totally illiterate, just partially:). I just try to misread my bill statements and honey do- lists for as long as the law will allow. JK.
I certainly hope that all your staff will consider these offending members ,still members of this site as long as they are aware of the current changes.
freddydog1 07-09-2009, 10:50 PM it kinda strikes me as funny,,,but there are a lot of peeps, mods, adms, from other sites that claim to be owners,or whatever of other sites that are here all the time,,well that should tell you something lol, when this site is better than theirs, thats why their here

jason&kristy 07-09-2009, 11:10 PM and trust me the mods and admin here go to other sites to , fta in the whole is a tight nit group this is how the info is shared ,look in the stickies and this will confirm this

exactly, everybody is welcome anywhere, i love it here at bins, and im sure every staff here goes to have a look around once in a while, you have to in order to keep up with the rest of the community, it is for free sharing of information and the willingness to help others, thats what i like to, and what i will keep doing. im sure it is all just an misunderstanding, someone trying to cause trouble, oh well, theres a few in every crowd!! Hope to help and have a great day!!!
dmantom 07-09-2009, 11:29 PM ROFLMAO. Anyone who wants to leave this site is more than welcome to do so. There are no locks or chains on the doorway. This site IS THE BEST FTA SITE ON THE NET. No one will dispute that. If you don't like the "flavor" of the rules you know what you can do. Common sense goes a long way. freddydddog1 hit the nail on the head. Why the heck would anyone want to leave here? That kind of reasoning totally escapes me.
shotgun mike 07-09-2009, 11:33 PM Well I'm gonna put my 2 cents in on this even though I have had a rough couple of weeks with 3 deaths in my family and circle. I was approached to be a Mod on a site and I thought this guy was nuts because truly I have only been in this game for 5 months now and yes I do like to read and learn and help where I can and I was honored to accept. I was learning what I could and had some great teachers. They showed me thing I would never know. Well the admin of this site got a PM saying I was a trouble maker and a spy. I was hurt deeply. Not only did i have sense of guilt for leaving the bins I was givin my all and thought I was doing ok. All my post have been here at bins since the day my friend turned me on to this hobby and maybe have a half dozen an all the sites that I have visited. Needless to say for reason I will keep to myself I was ask to step away. I understand thier concern. I agreed and still visit this site often. They are my friends and the owner knows the truth about me. My point to this is being a mod you are under great scruttnity and its not all its cracked up to be. I would of loved to be a Mod on this site but I now know that I am happier just being me and I came back home.
dmantom 07-09-2009, 11:37 PM Sorry about your loss Mike. you are a great member of this site. I personally make it a point to view your posts. What you say about being a mod is correct. Always under scrutiny, the pay is terrible and the food is lousy.. Your rep and point count speak for themselves:)
jason&kristy 07-09-2009, 11:37 PM ROFLMAO. Anyone who wants to leave this site is more than welcome to do so. There are no locks or chains on the doorway. This site IS THE BEST FTA SITE ON THE NET. thats my point, nobody said anything about wanting to leave the site, i like the wealth of information that has been built over the last few years, you can read guides all day and still have new stuff to learn the next day, generally everybody is friendly and enjoys each others conversation, that is great, and a great site has been built, great job to all who contributed and have a great evening!!!:worship::worship:
dmantom 07-09-2009, 11:42 PM Well let me rephrase that to say if anyone wants to allow themselves to be "recruited" :)
myplace 07-09-2009, 11:53 PM sorry about your loss mike
Gugi47 07-10-2009, 12:10 AM Now that you mentioned it's random to anybody, ban there asses.......as stated friendships are made but random is bullsh*t...........period.
You right here.
dodgesonly is correct, the rule was not as clear as it should have been, allow me to to fix that.
I have to Say............you wrong. Why? Becouse if the person or persons are Staff members like me and you should know better. I would banned them no questions ask. And yes, i would post them user name out for the members. Just remember this is not only a testing hobby, is a big business too. So, they should play clean.
dodgesonly 07-10-2009, 12:10 AM Sorry for your loss here too mike.. Good people sometimes suffer the greatest..
Outlaw179 07-10-2009, 12:47 AM Sorry for your loss mike.. Why would someone in there right mine won't to leave this site.I've been to a lot and this one is the BEST!
Dalakerman06 07-10-2009, 12:50 AM I wanted to say I am deeply sorry to hear of your recent losses shotgun an hope things get better for you. Back to the topic tho, I for one am a admin/mod on several fta sites an wouldn't even go as low as trying to recruit from some elses site.....that's pretty low.
An as far as being a admin and mod on any fta sites alot of people wouldn't think it has it's ups and downs but yep it does. I've been a admin and mod on several sites for a long time now an have been into this hobby for years. Being a admin and mod you have several duties which I won't go into but does have some advantages. Admins and mods tho are just as everyone else we all continue to learn more and more info as we go an we can't never obtain too much knowledge in this hobby.
I'd also hafta say I've visited several fta sites an this ftabins.net I've always been felt welcomed an wanted to say thanks to all staff and members for allowing me to continue to come to your site and allow me to help an lend a hand when needed.
d.j.flex 07-10-2009, 12:59 AM It's not about the rep points Mike It's how you treat everybody on this site and I for one am glad your here. You've helped me several times and I can always get information from you. So thanks Friend and that nobody can take away from you. I am very sorry for your loss. I feel good being able to say Hey Shotgun Whats new because I know that i will get an answer every time. Don't leave this site It would be a BIG loss to FTAbins. MY FRIEND MIKE...

Thats im sure is ok?
Jaimecasas1 07-10-2009, 05:51 AM NOw that all makes sense. I was wondering why I kept getting emails that said there had been a N3 cracked at their site. "Sure you Did!!;-)" If it is gonna happen My Site/Our Site Big( BINS) will been in the mix. Keep the faith. Together we STAND!
n3xtgen 07-10-2009, 09:42 AM I think the message here has been properly conveyed. Thanks guys.
