We have stumbled across a most tremendous find in the fta community.

fta--.com also associated with the to---fta.com has been lieing to thier members about a major security issue. first off they are useing a datbase that is completely unsecure and in the hands of many. Hackers aquired the database a few weeks ago and God knows whos hands it lies in now.

But the biggest security issue is this.
They are claiming to there members that they are hosted offshore. Now mind you they are a FTA 3rd party files site who is supposedly backed by VS third party software writers. Also note that the manufacturer VS has now been sued by The providers.

ok so this is the first time in dss history a site has done this. i have asked myself the question as to why would a site list only thier front page on an offshore server????

Well the answer I came up with is that they want whoever runs a who is on the site will see that they are offshore.

Well then once you enter the sita and you who is the url for the forums it comes up with being listed in the states.

Now everyone knows that a third party files site listed in the United States is just asking for Nagra to walk right in.

THIS SMELLS REAL BAD

Could this be a trap.....Absolutely. It would have been so easy for them to host the complete site offshore. Hell the front page is.

Offshore or not. Doesn't really matter. Unless you are in the loop, you will always being on the outside trying to look in.

The best way to tell where a server is located is to use a traceroute program with a graphical interface like NeoTrace. Then you will see where the pings go....

I received an email this morning with the subject "Viewsat could release" from SOMEWHERE I BEST NOT POSt AGAIN LEST I BE BANNED
The word is now out that Viewsat will release a N3 standalone fix on Sept.17. This is still just a rumor and we will just have to wait and see what happens. If the file is released we will have it posted first thing. So stop by and keep update on any breaking news.

First of all Cyphris has a ton of credibility in this game..... everything else he has posted in the past has been the truth...... second of all he has not promised anything here.... the future doesn't mean two weeks or a month... it means the future...... third of all, Cyphris is not a coder..... Fourth of all Just because the card has to be dumped first does not mean cards will have the fix first..... Do you really think that VS would dump the card then hand it our so everyone can pick at it?...... They can dump it and keep it internal..... besides... he never said they would be first.....

I know the problem they are stuck on, Its the timers and CW ecms, they need to test the file on all the units, dont be surprised if some of the small units wont be supported anymore. Could be the fact there still trying to access the card? Considering Mr VS was trying to buy a hacked card tells me his coders don't have the skills or the tools required to dump the card so if they have made any progress then I guess they somehow obtained a dump/hacked card. No, the admin/webmaster has taken the forums offline for the time being.

2) Why was it redirected to some real estate site for a while?

Simply because when you purchase certain server accounts/packages, you are allowed to run a number of sites from your account. Possibly the webmaster first thought it was in his best interest to gain traffic to that site by redirecting traffic there...then later realized it was causing confusion and speculation.

3) Did the actual banner announcement change about N3 on the splash page for HQ?

Yes, it did. I just do not know what "anytime" means.

3) Since you are a Mod there, why can't you let us know more about what is going on?

As Moderators we are there to ensure the forums run smoothly...we do not have anything to do with 3rd party coders, nor do we have any say in site policy...we just enforce it. It is the same on ANY forum based board (site).

5) Why so much negativity about this announcement

Now that is the million dollar question. There are a couple things at play here. A) Card (plastic) folks hate FTA. B) People pushing IKS hate Viewsat and this announcement because IF true, then their sales will plummit. nFusion is the one making the most negative noise, and that stuff gets C&P'd all over the web in full and partial form.

Some are stating that this is just a ploy to sell off more units but I have to disagree. Who exactly has Viewsat stock right now? I have not seen any dealers with any significant stock on hand. Any dealer that does have a crap load (if there is such a dealer), would have to be brain dead and not have followed what was going on for a year and a half. Some dealers even sold off inventory in the SA market because Telephonica files are still being released. Nothing will be sold until there is a fix, so saying that it is to sell units makes no sense.

7) What is your personal opinion?

Well, I figure we waited this long, we may as well see what September brings us. It's not like we have any control over what happens anyway.

i am confused because viewsat webpage say's and i quote there is a fix comming very soon and everbody say's this is bs .Gigster is saying that Cyphris did not post this that the fix was comming .I do not know what to believe because Gigster or Cyphris has never lied that i know of and that is fine but what is viewsat site saying that nag 3 fix is comming very soon .I do have every viewsat model available and love them and they are the best .viewsat is #1 and will alway's be but did Cyphris make a post and Gigster was on vacation or what because this is were i am confused .:worship:

Not sure if you ever followed the Coolsat saga but there page always said "Working on fixes for 4000,5000 and 6000 blah..blah...blah.. with nothing coming.
Its a sales ploy until its out.
Better that they say nothing than what thye are.looks like the only motivation for there post is to sale,sell,sail........

If you like it toasted your in luck. Major progress has been made and things are starting to fall in place. The N3 we have all known is really not N3 at all but more like a N1.9. Yes that’s right, it isn't anymore advanced then the N2 we are using now. More info to come as things progress but things are definitely on the upside

Yes i have read before i post and no i am not going to pm Gigster because he has to many fish to fry .I am only going off of what i have read on viewsat's webpage .If a fix is not close then why would they say that a fix is close .I have no beef with Gigster because when he speak's i listen because he is #1 and Viewsat is #1 but i do have a new hobby and that is drinking beer .
