I'm pretty sure if there had been any end users charged, we would have heard all about the details as soon as it happened. Plus there is no way an end user could be charged that much money,

The last rumor of end users trying to be held accountable and penalized was D*** sending out phoney bills trying to get people to pay $3,600. To jump from that to multi- million $ lawsuits is a bit hard to beleive.

Why would your IP provider be suing you because of IKS? If it is illegal, you would be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada by law enforcement, not sued.

The satellite companies may pursue legal action against you but only if they can reasonably demonstrate your actions harmed them in a court of law. Unless your IP provider is also a satellite provider then what grounds would they have for suing you?

Do yourself a favor if you are really concerned, Ask a friend who is a law "expert" i.e. lawyer, not an IT "expert"...

that's running on their network, but their going to get with other internet providers and "sue" you for stealing
(allegedly) from a different technology provider (sat). Sure, the sat police can hunt you down- but even that
is unlikely.

What ISP's can do is they can list all their customers IP's making traffic on port 1920 (for IKS SV) for example...
The same thing happened 2 years ago with the Torrents, when the ISP forwarded the list of the people downloading Torrents... this is why we use now encryption ...

Good point fielder.....this post was dumb from the start. Your IP provider could only come after you if you were stealing their internet service. You pay for internet and can do what you want with it when it comes into your house.

If you feel unsecure, some IKS models have the option to use Proxy Servers. to sue you they will need to prove what you are doing to a server in China, Mexico o Holland just to name a few common open proxys.

to go one by one to the end users.. will be a long and expensive way for both the companys and the goverment. imagine how many RCMP will need to go each house to catch and seize your receiver and computer instead of being on the streets doing their real job.

This too will pass, and the lion will lay down with the lamb.
