musky 09-20-2009, 12:51 PM Rumor n3
I am copying this from another site. I would like to say that whoever wrote this seems to be credible and I do believe what is being said. Over the last several weeks I have been doing as much research on the internet as possible. From what I can tell this seems to be the current direction of the progress being made. As an example if you read comments made by Chris Tarnovsky who has said that the new N3 cards made by Kudelski are poorly designed with regard to security and would be easily comprised. I will not say more here is the text from the site.
C/P This said about N3 from a reliable source in the xxx biz
Does anyone really think with that many providers using Nagra 3, that it will go uncompromised, especially considering how week Nagra 1 and 2 were? Does anyone think Nagra just suddenly woke up and started making a quality product? Does anyone actually think Nagra is outpacing the developmental capabilities of hackers in Europe, North America and Korea now? There have already been major embarrassments out of Kudelski on the Nagravision 3 system, they have already done card recalls of certain versions of the Nagra 3 cards and sent out new ones replacing them.
Now if you want specifics for what actually has been done so far. I will give some of what is known. Dark Angel the coder who wrote numerous blockers and hacks for the rom 102 cards, who has been around the satellite business since before HashHU even started (and we have been here for over 7 years), claims he is close to releasing a fix for armulator emulation equipment, which at this point is having freezing issues, he claims he needs to figure out the checksum information before he releases this fix. If he is successful with this fix, its literally a matter of days after he releases it before it comes to almost all FTA receivers as emulators work identically tp FTA receivers.
This is what I know about the Viewsat card lab out of the basement of a rented house in Texas, which now CLAIMS to be dismantled. They were taking pictures of the card, getting all information off the card that they could and taking apart the binary code, they also claimed they had Nagra 3 working with freezing but would not release it until that was fixed. As of now, my sources say the cardlab is shut down and they are not working on a fix because Jung Kwak, owner of Viewtech Inc, has declared bankruptcy and wishes to invest no more money into the operation. I think this may be backtracking if they actually do have a fix they are not going to want to say they were the ones who released it. Back when the Nagra 2 hacks came along it was released first as open source for DVB cards in North America because no manufacturer of FTA equipment wanted to take the heat.
There are numerous credible instances we see of progress on Nagra 3, and when they come from the same sources that told me 4 years ago that Nagra 2 was done, I am hard pressed to find a reason why I should have more doubt this time around than I did last time.
There is so much money flying around in the FTA business these days that the cost of producing a hack is minuscule compared to the return on the investment, and there are numerous players with more than 20 million dollars who still haven't had enough who have invested. Money talks, N3 walks.
C/P We will see in about a week if I was given the wrong info !!!
alltel 09-20-2009, 12:58 PM thanks but old news
alamokid 09-20-2009, 01:03 PM Only time will tell. I think that someone will come through with a fix. They did it twice before so why not again. Thanks for the info musky. VS rocks.
kuz1kan 09-20-2009, 01:09 PM I am tired of waiting!! I ordred a kbox prodigy!! I can't wait until I get my new toy!!
Mapleleaf 09-20-2009, 01:11 PM thanks but old newsgood read anyways but it does lead me to 1 question. if their so called lab is shut down does this means they have a hacked card or they have stopped working on the hack. i guess we will see in a week or two eh.
tremmy 09-20-2009, 01:11 PM With All The Post Happening Could Someone Tell Me If Sonicview 4000 Is Dead

Yes it is,

Yet, I would like to add this comment, in case you don't know the name above in bold type you should, the man has one hell of an interesting story.
Long story short, Chris is so brillant he had to be hired by the providers to keep him out of the underground. An his statement about the poor design is one of the reasons the community should not lose hope, that soemwhere in the future N3 will be cracked.
Don't expect it anytime soon, unless Chris himself was the one doing the cracking, sorry he is out of that business. Yet, if he says it can be done then take it to the bank, it can be.
The question then becomes, is there a person out there in the world, who is as brillant as Chris and has the equitment available to them to get it done....
Time will tell.

trust me..that guy ain't hacking anything but a log with an axe..i know about him,how he is and he is a douche bag..trust me..and as far as the owner of VS,he was only a frontman.not the real owner.there main coder got busted, that is true. But dark angel....lmao..he's got shit and if you don't believe me just wait and see...he can barely code he remote compared to some even decent coders out there..and i know more about him but i will not say..however my best advise is to stay the hell away from him.

Time will tell.Heres an old read about Tarnovsky from Wired Magizine.
jah67 09-20-2009, 01:28 PM i think there is a little MIS INFORMATION aout Viewsat and the lawsuits. I found documents that appear real, saying Viewsat is countersuing Echostar. the Countersuit mentions that echostar has fta recievers in Europe and that bin files come out to circumvent echostars security. NOW with that question being raised, why would viewsat file bankruptcy???????? this is really good information that can bring many many years of fta for all,,,,,,,,,,
p.s., i tried to upload documents, but some moderators on this site, chose to sensor and deleted it. SO SHAME ON SENSORING
HeyRube 09-20-2009, 01:29 PM Without a doubt, Chris Tarnovsky knows of what he is speaking. HE will hack Nag3...if someone pays him enough.
And I personally DO believe in the hack.
But I been around longer than HashHU too, and that in and of itself, means nothing. Crappy site. Or was.
Dark Angel hangs out at Card Coders. We have crossed paths. I will say this about him...IF he comes out with the Nag3 hack, I will eat his hat. It will take someone with far more skill, and talent...like Mr Tarnovsky. To mention both in the same breath is a...joke.
It took 92 days for the Nag2 fix VS had, and refused to share, before it matriculated to the other FTA box makers. My prediction was that it would take about 92 days this time. We are on day...83. Tick tock.
HeyRube 09-20-2009, 01:32 PM Haha. True. True. Listen, he ain't even a real hacker because he is motivated by...greed.

You can not upload untill you are a "trusted" member, 25 posts or more. This was done because members with very few posts were posting damaging .bin files in the file forums, and damaging STB's.
watchit 09-20-2009, 01:38 PM Chris is not the only one that understands this technology and technique of reverse engineering silicon :)
HeyRube 09-20-2009, 01:51 PM True. But he is the one Charlie sued for hacking his plastic previously. I understand it. Nothing earth shattering. It is the combination, the whole package, that is troubling. What we used before has been...responded to.
Sure, a dog is a dog is a dog. Charlie bought a dog when he bought security for his plastic. He, NO doubt, went...with the cheapest date. Charlie is to blame for his plastic being hacked before, not Chris. How do we know? Look at all the time, effort, and money he expended to divert the blame AWAY from himself. Had he not? HE would be libel under the DMCA for failing to apply due diligence.
Chris is not the only one that understands this technology and technique of reverse engineering silicon :)

Sorry to say but it's 94 days including today, so I guess we are already abit past day 92. DN completed the switch on june 18th an well Bev has been gone for along while, heck I've even forgot how long Bev has been gone N3 but no doubt it's been several months.
HeyRube 09-20-2009, 02:02 PM Mr Kwak was counter suing. That is a normal part of ones response to being sued. I mean, if you WIN, you want to win something. But when Mr Kwak copped a plea, he agreed to toss his counter suit.
Echostar is the largest maker of FTA boxes on the planet. Sure. Is, for instance, VS a competitor of Charlie's in Europe? Sure. Why do you think Charlie tried to bankrupt VS, Pansat, and Coolsat? To kill off the competition. To reduce their ability to compete in other market places.
Civil court is almost always about what? It is about a BIG business trying to bankrupt a smaller business. To reduce competition.
VS didn't file bankruptcy. Mr Kwak did. Why? So he don't have to pay the settlement he agreed to.
Send the docs to...a mod or admin here. They will post it if pertinent. But I'm afraid...they are old documents, and you are...late for the party.

walkhard 09-20-2009, 02:03 PM This rumor is old , but hope it's true.
Thanks
HeyRube 09-20-2009, 02:05 PM I thought it was the 28 of June. But I went back and checked. I posted this here:
June 18, at high noon, Nagra2 died. RIP.
TODAY! Yeah right.
