Hi everybody,
greetings from a complete newbie who is somehow lost.
I live in Costa Rica and there is not much of FTA knowledge and support here.
Bought a used CW800 and a 1.2m dish with a linear Chapparal LNB.
They both seem to have worked before, the CW 800 had the Hispasat channels programmed.
I do get a signal when I point it to Hispasat or Amazonas, however the signal strength never exceeds 75, the noisefloor without signal
is around 60.
Quality is always 0. I have free line of sight and at least Hispasat should enter strongly.
My compass is not very good and there is a lot of iron on the roof, so the alignment of the antenna might be off and I might be pointing to the wrong sattelite(s).
What I already tried is:
1. Tried another (new) LNB, nothing changed
2. Moved LNB forth and back, changed (skew?) angle of LNB, signal
gets only weaker, never stronger .
3. Changed coax + fittings, no change.
4. Tried with different transponders, signal gets weaker on some, never stronger.
5. Tried with another, slightly smaller dish, signal gets slightly weaker.
6. Reset CW800 to factory defaults, nothing changed.
So far I have spent hours on the rooftop and the only thing I got for free was a sunburn.....
I would be grateful for any feedback, cause I am running out of ideas.
