View Full Version : Some good news
gigster 12-28-2007, 12:44 PM Here is some good news from our friends on the inside...
I really can't say all of what I know, but the map EMU is down to just a few routines left. It needs some streamlining and cleaning up, but it IS delivering control words accurately right now. There's a map command and a few other little routines to finish, but they are close. I'd say around February 1st, providers may indeed have a tough time bringing us ALL down for awhile.
We CAN tell you this, though. Providers are pulling out all stops. They are doing things that the card was never intended to do in an effort to squash FTA. Coders really don't seem too worried, though, so neither should you. We may have a bit of a bumpy ride this month, but soon the tide will turn.
Everybody just please remain calm, and check here for the latest updates and be patient and wait!
Have the Coders ever let us down yet?
We have seen many, many worse situations than this!!

maccatack 12-29-2007, 08:57 AM Hey Slimjim, first of all learn how to spell, second if the info you get from other "sights" is so reliable then why are you even here? Oh, I bet the other place doesn,t have a fix either and you were hoping to find one here.Every time we have a major issue, the coders tell us that it might be awhile for a fix and as of yet i have not heard from the people that know that this is the case. The sky might be falling in your world, but stop pissing on everybody else's parade!
gioleooleo 12-29-2007, 09:03 AM Thanks for the update, and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

Looks like someone's second grade kid got ahold of the computer for a few while they were away.
Stick around and watch ... I've been in this game for years and the coders haven't failed, some information may be kept private, some information we may not ever get but the coders don't fail. This is a great group and when the fix is out it will be shared and YES it is coming.;)

Well put PapaBear, i second the motion
Raewa58 12-29-2007, 11:33 AM What a wonderful message. I find it both enlightening and refreshing. Thank you
fantumlady 12-29-2007, 11:53 AM its too bad that there is such negativity around isnt it, i fairly new to the fta world ( last year and a half) and this is the longest i have been down...
the end is near...no i dont think so, gives me the opportunity to do some reading, educate myself...and perhaps be somewhat more knowledgeable in the fta world..
from what i have seen and read, the CODERS do a FANTASTIC job, FTA BINS puts the fixes out when they receive them....they have proven that time and time again......i have great faith that the CODERS will come through....its all just a matter of time, which we all seem to have...be patient..perhaps the end is near, but not the ending some are thinking of, LOL!!!!
buddhabelly1957 12-29-2007, 12:02 PM Gloom and Doom..... Why don't all the naysayers just sell their receivers and stay off of this site. It will come. I have faith. As for those who don't Happy trails:yes:
PapaBear 12-29-2007, 12:11 PM Take note! Most of the naysayers do not have "supporter", "admin", or anything similar below their name. Most of these bringers of gloom have "New Member" below their name with very few posts.
alabamamike 12-29-2007, 12:35 PM Thanks for the up date. I hope everyone has a Happy New Year...
chibi 12-29-2007, 12:47 PM Lots of enjoyable channels left. I would have gotten into FTA for the number of channels that are surviving the ecm right now. Pick a channel and watch tv. The new bin will be a nice plus, but i don't consider myself "needing" it at the moment. But I guess you offer a man the world and he will be demanding it shortly after.
dishman727 12-29-2007, 01:11 PM The previous 2 ECM were explained in great detail and it was really fun to read about them. Just out of curiosity - has anyone posted any info on the latest ECM (on this or any other site)?
dish_man_ca 12-29-2007, 01:17 PM To all the people who are "consumers" because they bought a box thinking it was great to get free tv! You've taken up the wrong road, this should be a hobby, if this is your only source of TV then I suggest downloading something to watch. I've been at this game since the days of the very first bootloader boards for Dave! Its a cat and mouse game, some can code, some can't, some try, some learn, the rest wait patiently for those that can! Others whine, why don't i have my free tv, i spent all this money and for what! if you didn't know what you were getting into and you can't code it, Wait, or as others have suggested sell your stuff to someone who will! As for the those who are coding, learning or helping, Praise be to you for tolerating the hogwash that comes out of the mouths of the free Tv'ers and keep up the good work! As always the more they attack, the closer the coders are going to be to understanding how the changes are happening and develop a way to deal with it!
Hail to the Coders!
tank_788 12-29-2007, 01:23 PM Battle of the Bulge?
Well, this is it folks. I am calling it the Battle of the Bulge. This is the final desperate push by Nagra to defeat all hardware emulators. The stakes could not be higher: if they win, no single stand-alone hardware emulator is coming back. If they lose, they have nothing else to throw at us, at least nothing harder than this.
Their tactic is the (expected) timer hash of Map0x57. Map0x57, as most coders know is a convoluted implementation of elliptic curve multiplication (ECC). Timing a standard ECC function is hard enough, but timing a proprietary one is much, much harder - if not impossible.
My plan is to counter this attack with my favourite weapon of choice: statistics. It worked well for us last time, lets hope it works out this time too.
For those who are culturally deprived, the Battle of the Bulge was the last desperate offensive by the Germans, prepared with skill and secrecy, to capture the key strategic city of Bastogne around Christmas of 1944. Greatly outnumbered and outflanked, the allies held the city and the men who survived came to be known as the "Battered ******** of Bastogne".
Lets see what the battered, ******* coders can do this time around...wish me luck!
roycemfc 12-29-2007, 02:19 PM This makes me feel good.. thank you for the update and thanks to all the coders
geemann85 12-29-2007, 02:23 PM me too! good luck to you & all the coders live long & prosper!!!

PapaBear 12-29-2007, 03:29 PM Tank 788 ... Thank you. Please provide as requested in other threads, some info as to what we are dealing with and the programs to work with it. I used to work with Dave and would be willing to help here but back then (the HU stream) we knew what processor we were dealing with and the hash codes, we also knew what programs to use to read and edit the code. I work full time and test part time, don't have all the time in the world to research and find out what processor we are dealing with, what software is necessary to read / write with, etc ... what do I need to do to help? Back in the days of H and HU this info was readily available. Everyone coding now seems to not want to give this info. Hell back then I had a bin I could load which would report the hash to me on a certain channel. Now I can't do anything but wait for the coders. (Coders today are much greater than I ever was, I simply redirected hashes back then, they have to re-invent the programming now.)
Some of us however may be a bit of help if we have the info necessary to help. Please help us help you!

I am new at this FTA stuff. But when it goes down it seems the same as my sub package. I have 4 or 5 sportsnet channels and every time there's a hockey game on them they are blacked out, you only see it if you live local.
So if I get them for free when things are up good for me and everyone else that gets blacked out while paying.
Who ever the coders are, keep up what you do best. People crying and complaining about it. Well people do this in every thing, you should see the hockey team I coach.
Keep up the great work..........
DSSFASTEDDIE 12-30-2007, 10:12 AM All I can Say is I can't Say thanks so Much To All The Coders For All the Hours Of Work, they have Put in to this!!!! Please Have a Very Happy New Year To All But Big One to the Coders. Wth Out You We would be no Wear!!!!! :smoke::smoke::worship:

All too often we run into someone whining about no support or how they figure the FTA community is letting them down.

I don't understand why you would get so worked up. There is nothing keeping you here, you can leave any time. If you have FTA equipment there is a 4sale area here or ebay, either way sell your equipment and get a sub, and be happy. Getting this worked will probably just kill you, it really is not worth it. I don't think you will be missed from here if leave, so just leave!:!:
optimus prime 1 01-01-2008, 03:24 PM wow, that guy really needs a fix bad. some kind.
Ericsmom 01-01-2008, 03:27 PM I want to wish all of FTAbins moderators and peace keepers and coders a very Happy New Year full of good health and happiness. I personally believe that bev and dn have come up with a programme that will for always be shutting down on everyone. So be it, it's just so nice that there is sites like this, and coders out there working their tales off trying to help those who cant afford satellite or dont want to pay for satellite. I think you are a terrific bunch and appreciate everything you do for everyone
Lots of good wishes

So be it, it's just so nice that there is sites like this, and coders out there working their tales off trying to help those who cant afford satellite or dont want to pay for satellite. I think you are a terrific bunch and appreciate everything you do for everyone
Lots of good wishes
Diana

Well said.....You have said it all.:worship:
captainretardo 01-01-2008, 04:08 PM Here is some good news from our friends on the inside...
You really should make this known that this post is a copy and paste from another website instead of making it seem like you wrote it
xballer 01-01-2008, 06:17 PM Thank you, good to hear!
dommy 01-01-2008, 07:55 PM i noticed that too captain. but atleast people are informd here now.
dodgesonly 01-01-2008, 08:54 PM I for one am grateful to gigsters post (weather he originally wrote it or not) and appreciate any news.As for some of the negative remarks i've seen, about doom ,destruction ,and the end of fta in general,i ask of these folks how much they've spent on their box and set up?A mere drop in the jar I'm sure if look at what it would have cost to pay the sub's for what we have received.I've heard it cost $7,500 or more a year to get the shows we've been viewing, and don't doubt it.If you don't have at least a basic sub, or a antenna set up, then you've probably been ticked off (your fault entirely ,sorry). Only been in the game about a year and half and have seen channels i thought i would never receive or much less have.Yea, i know coders more than likely get payed but it does'nt mean we can't be grateful for what we get, when we the coders are successful. Hope most people agree on this, if not sorry (just my 2cents anyway)
dmantom 01-01-2008, 09:07 PM Gigster.. first rate original post and it has been repeated outside of other "sites" if you will from fairly reliable sources.. Great info and rep added:) Keep us informed.
curly 01-02-2008, 01:29 AM thanks for the update
akabouch 01-02-2008, 02:50 AM i see light at the end of the tunnel.

Sabre22 01-02-2008, 03:05 AM Thanks for the update :)
Tealhawke 01-02-2008, 03:09 AM It does sound good, but the lack of temp fixes has forced my hand, just ordered a CW box.
I really don't get this "I'd rather wait for the full solution" thinking from VS and SV. The CW owners have been watching TV with the CW "temp" fixes all this time.
For me, this remains a hobby, I am still a tester. It will be nice to have a box and bins to test with again.
dunigan 01-02-2008, 08:18 AM I am hearing rumors of administrator/mods testing a temp VS bin, probably bs because posted at ecoustics. Nevertheless anybody heard if there are people watchin tv on VS. Another guy says TDG says he is watchin a test file?? This is the rumor section RIGHT??
metalsection 01-02-2008, 09:09 AM Good to see that the whining has stopped. Coders need to hear support not whining. CaptiveWorks has codes out (apparently) so I have faith that more will be out soon.

Someone give me that "test bin?" lmao.. right! I have been testing my snow removal skills. Tis true, this IS the rumour section and it's always good for putting a smile on your face:)
the senator 01-02-2008, 09:27 AM Thanks for the info.......Great post!! Coders & Mods you guys are the best.
sheptonca@yahoo.ca 01-02-2008, 09:44 AM every one is quick to point out captive works is working but one post I read says it is freezing all the time. To all the whiners; just get a paid script, and you are not to late to cut your channels in half from what we are watching right now for a low low price of about 60 bucks a month. Personnally I will be patient (not one of my strong points either) and wait. 200 plus channels is still nothing to cry about.

Snow removal skills? ha! ha! :P
I am staying indoors today, because it is currently 48°F in Miami and I will not be able to wear shorts to mow the lawn.
:Peace:

Maybe ,
but if you turn off AutoRoll or at the very least turn the unit off at back every 2-3 hours as needed .. works great.
it does not freeze..
yes it takes a while 5 to 20 seconds for channels to come in.
but at least we have full channels.
like an old Chev Chevette cheap to buy and always reliable.
go Captive go!!!!
instigater 01-02-2008, 01:58 PM not a very accurate post ,thanks for the false hope .
