Not sure how many peps this will reach,, cause I could not post in the props I wanted due to # of post.

I have watched this hobby from a past,, I was there with Canbert and friends when the rom2 was found,, was there with Tollio and Assay, Grundy, Safta were teaching about the rom3 dump,,,, learnt from Stunguy and all the crew,,,the romX team for the 102,,,,even lent a hand in the atmeg project with Omaga for the PCB design,,,,beta alot of software,, helped lots,,,was a coder,,, still am a coder,,,NERVER A WINER,,,,,

To all the FTA peps out there remember this,,,,the TV you watch is from the efforts of the pioneers, the ones that stuck it out and the new comers that learnt from the great ones.

Guys like me gave it up because of the demanding and wining, the game will get tougher , the coders will get deeper, and you will be where I was many years back,, on your own,, learning from those who are willing to teach when they find a worthy student of ability and honor is the best way to go.

MY ADVICE TO YOU,,,,,,SHUT THE **** UP

Get what ya get if you do not want to take the time to be a student or a teacher.

Dear Dragon,
Whoa! calm down dude - not everyone is a contributor to "FREE TV", some of us are consumers and consumers have a right (even if it is unearned) to be pain-in-the-you know-where. As another member said, make the information public, let each individual decide how they want to get their share of "FREE TV." I, for one, will definitely write my own code, if I knew what is involved and what hardware and software I need to begin with.
Anyway, how about letting us "ignorant, dont appreciate what we have" bunch in on what the latest ECM is about? That would be a good first step towards educating us towards helping ourselves so that we MAY (may being the operating word), stop whining and may be even shut up?

I think you have a point Dragon but not all of us have the time to put into this. I for one would like to look into helping out but I know that there are better coders out there than me. But as a question in the same line. What software do I use to even start looking at the code of a bin file? Maybe if we new that we could start on our own.

P.s Thanks coders for the time and effort you put in.

I too used to help out with coding when we still had an HU stream. We knew what processor we were working with and what programs to use to read the code and mod it. We have no info on this with FTA. If we have more info along these lines we may be able to do more and maybe even find odds and ends that the coders are missing. The coders we have are GREAT. Everyone can get greater. I for another would be willing to help with the limited time I do have but need alot more info for a starting point since I don't have time to find that point.

Reading the comments I find some harsh and some with merit. I myself have been around since the old C-band days played with cards and etmega but find the FTA the most reliable so maybe we should give the coders there do and back off. But if the day comes when the heat is to much for them I hope they dump there files and info on coding on the open internet would serve dave and Bev right if they had hundreds of thousands spreading files instead of the maybe hundred or so coders, watcha think????

I'm sure that if the "Sky Actually Falls" that would happen ... they are great for fixing and sending. If it fell I'm sure they would dump it all for us to have. In the mean time I and others want to help but don't have the resources (more than likely due to the lack of time to research,) it would be nice if someone handed us the resources as a starting point.

People who love to watch TV tend to hate anything that get's in the way of watching...including the time it takes to produce a new bin. I would hazzard to guess that 99% of the whining we see is actually a reflection of hating the delay and not hating the coders - probably just easier for these folks to complain about "people" than to complain about "time". Something that might help properly focus peopls' attention would be to understand a little better the relationship between the coders and the STB manufacturers. I've read in here that (many of) the coders are being supported by the manufacturers. Of course any evidence of this kind of a connection would land everyone in court but rumours never really hurt anyone. So, any rumours out there that anyone would like to share?

From my H and HU days I learned that *****ing and whining are a part of the game. It's not doing anything to speed up the process, the coders don't pay attention to it so it's not going to be our demise. I just exists. What are you babbling about? Not that I am ungrateful for FREE TV that coders and "testers" make happen but this is getting out of control. I dont think you have the right to develop a GOD complex and display it everytime a layman tries to voice their opinion or ask a naive question, albiet a repetition. If you dont like common people, dont read the forums - these are not for you anyway - you already know everything that there is to know about everything. The rest of us come here to get some info and ask questions and those who believe in this will offer their advice. People like you are driving helpful folks away from forums like this and preventing us from learning.
All I read since the latest ECM is how everyone is whining or how that whining will defeat FTA - screw FTA nobody needs to be here for FTA - not a single genius(that includes you) put forth a theory or even a c&p to inform us what the f@#k is going on. My ADVICE to you geniuses out there - start by sharing information. If you dont, we all are going to lose this battle. Keep that in mind the next time you flame someone for asking a "dumb" question.

While I don't like seeing people complain that the fixes don't come out quick enough I also don't like people telling others that if they ***** this will somehow result in the coders stopping their work. This isn't the old hu days where people did the coding on their own. Now its manufacturers producing boxes and paying coders to create fixes for them. Its an industry that will keep on trucking until the day they can no longer do so because of some new encryption and not as the result of people complaining.

The Coders are probably the last people that know, or care about the whining, *****ing and complaining that goes on in the forums. Yes, they should be appreciated for what they do, but I'm sure they are well paid by the STB manufacturers etc. and neither want, nor deserve to be put on a pedestal.

You were the first one with a question that made sense,,, What is wrong and how do I fix,,, bravo. And the quest for knowledge follows with more members. The first thing we need to understand is the playing field,, 4 parts.
1-there coders
2-the stream
3-our receivers
4-our cards
Look to see how you as a group can learn 1 or more of the above
Then the latest ECM will have merit to the group as a whole

Almost sounds like a double standard, it’s a hobby,, but every one gets paid.
If the gen pub were to learn how to do this,,, the coders would suffer?
Coders don’t care about the winning?,,,why did so many disappear, why so much under ground,,all because of the money,,,the money factor is the new bread of coders,,,younger, samarter,,,, where did all the teachers go? But at the end of it all some people showed interest in learning,,,,,,,,

ok time to stop bashing the supporters / others who responded ... let's get back to the topic. I've been taught a thing or 2 in this and other posts. The coders today are PAID by manufacturers and this alone leaves me with nothing to stand on in this and my other posts. I was under the impression that we all did it for fun and the game still. At this point i'm still willing to help but the coders and manufacturers need to get it together and provide us with movies (ppv, porn, etc ...) or provide us with info to use fixing our own shit and all of us need to get together and make the coders and manufacturers work holidays, weekeds, etc ... until we are all running 100% and I would like my 2500a fixes back so I can get back to the 2500a instead of the conversions which make me take more time putting in the keys manually because the buttons don't line up right.

They need to provide us with TV!
It's not FREE TV ... We paid for it and most of us will buy new boxes later.

DragontcC

First off I somewhat understand what you are trying to say and maybe worthy of a few comments of addiditonal insight or food for thought.... It is difficicult and stressful when any occupation is put up against overwhelming expectation. The cartel you express likely exsists at many different skill levels and or ability but as the saying goes sometimes better to remain silent holds very true!!!!! I'm not doubting your ability to some level however I'm very certain the few that have the dedication and commitment for sport or financial gain DO NOT ADVERTISE unless they can deliver; if your talking sharing a passion for esprit de core.... I can remember that excitement when you found that hidden BBS chat room were your ideas could be taken with some degree of respect and sincerity.

I do not condone the rants :\ "whining" to be correct.......lmao ...demanding a fix or complaint rejecting that something doesn't work because its called technology evolution!
I respect those that are freely willing to kill a device just to see what makes it tick and for the thrill just to see if you can retsore the heartbeat. Bottom line is technology is all about dollars and cents but with an invention we grow and learn.

If your joining the brotherhood of testing just for the free stuff then save your time and patience just buy another stb or pay for cable ....... figure it this way maybe spend 3 hours complaining about a fix you so desperately need........Ummmmmmm hello; I can spend 2 hours in the bedroom gtting my freak on then go to work or an hour and just buy the PPV event totally chilled and much more healthy then developing anger management issues because the tv is out.....

Give me a break :P if I have the knowledge I'm only willing to share it with those equally willing to make a contribution and why shouldn't we deserve to get paid for effort.
You can be an expert in theory but you also need to be an expert in practical with a great deal of determination maybe then you can boast something about being a coder and score yourself an executive position with a manufacturer.

Information and knowlege is free to those that dare to challenge and explore ; if all else fails... grow some cahonies.:shifty:

Have you seen your work make others succeed and profit, while the rest rant, rave and whine that you are not doing enough?
