In the info and card information channels on DN, there is a channel stating that after Nov 8 if you don't swap your card you will lose programming.

** CORRECTION **

This is false, you will only be losing locals on this date. I am assuming the reason they do this is because every subbed dish user enjoys their local channels, and once they no longer receive them they will be looking for ways to get them working again, even if they have to call dish so they can speed up the card swap process.

But who knows, I just test..

I think they put those messages on just to get people to panic so it will possibly speed up the process of customers swapping cards.......

thanx for the info bud:thmbup:

Didn't get mine yet as of Saturday last. I'll be buying a new receiver to replace my discontinued 7100 though. Still debating which one...

mikes951 what this means is all channels will be black when nag 3 becomes completely effective. As for no more fta we aren't certain as of yet, the coders have begin working on a fix for nag 3 so far no solution as of yet tho. Please remain patient tho we shall all sit and wait it out.

My question: Do most of you use a card?

most sub boxes use a card, but some don't.
if the switch will be complete when all boxes get what is needed to continue their subbed
service.
it is at that time that any thing can happen.

Still no updated card here. I have heard that the card instructions say to implement within 2 weeks that you receive it. That would put me past the Nov 8 day.

I think this channel is definitely used to instill fear.

While N3 is inevitable, I still assume it will be later than the Nov 8 date.

However, I could be wrong since I have been wrong before.

b3v started the switch months ago and they're still not done, and they have much less subscibers, so I wouldn't worry. Enjoy the holidays!

[QUOTE=mattkocmut;316393]In the info and card information channels on DN, there is a channel stating that after Nov 8 if you don't swap your card you will lose access to your programming. I am assuming this is the official card-swap end date.

Its not the END date... its the START date. On that date they plan to START changing certain international channels over to the new system.

The expensive packages go first and many subs do have new cards however there are still quite a few who do not. Basic channels will be the last to make the switch because everyone gets those channels which means everyone must have the new cards installed before that change can happen.

When they mail the cards you have a month to do the swap but they would like you to do it immediately because many subs do require help from a csr and they don't want everyone waiting until the last minute and then overloading the call centers. If you don't swap your cards at some point your receiver will lose its authorization which will get your attention.

Most every receiver except a couple brand new models do need the new card and they are sending out waves of them but it does take a while.

When they do make the switch to Nagra 3 your FTA receiver will once again ONLY receive FTA channels... it will no longer receive subscription channels which are not FTA to begin with.

Dish thinks they will be done around the first of the year but at this point it looks like June at the earliest although you may see some channels make the switch starting in November they are no where near being finished.

However, I wouldn't invest in any new hardware this Christmas... I would wait and see if some sort fix happens. In Europe they have some small groups of card-sharing but thats about all - lots of stories about possible fixes and the usual story about NDS suddenly having another new fix has been reported. You also will hear about 'supposed' fixes coming shortly from every dealer and manufacturer who would like to sell you their dead inventory before you discover there won't be any fix.

So, just keep watching your tv as long as you can. Don't buy any new hardware because somebody says they will have a fix 'real soon now'. Wait until there are some actual fixes posted here that are confirmed to work from somebody you know and trust to tell you the truth.

And don't panic... its only tv.

yeah with the coders working hard on this nag 3 I don't think we will see a complete blackout, we may lose the bev completely and lose some channels on DN before we get a fix but I do have faith in the coders and I'd never doubt them or ever put them down they always pull through. I'm dreding to see most fta sites if we do have a complete blackout they will be swamped. But ah with most of us has been through this before and as gigster used the word some of us being oldies. lol.....I'm sure alot of us is aware of what's going on so I'm hoping not alot of people panic.
