well ive moderated on and been a member on some very large forums over the years and i dont remember any that didnt either lockdown or have bad lagging during full blown ecm's.
no forum can handle 100000 members trying to all join at the same time.

i don't pay either but this is still the best site i know about... i may pay if i run out of patience on a busy night, but so far i've been able to live without tv for limited periods of time-- surprise surprise.

you dont like it throgh a little cash to ftabins and stop that busy sign,, i dont even know what the busy sign looks like,, didnt even know there was one,, the amount of movies my kids watch,, worth every penny, pays for itself in a month,, not all tv is free i never go without tv

Personally I feel the few bucks I share with ftabins is some of the best money i've ever invested. There is always a good return on my money. Keep up the great job guys you have a supporter in me. I hope others would make a small investment to assure this place is always available to us.

Guys and Gals......there WILL always be those people that come here after other sites go down and talk about how good it was on the other side....the grass is always greener in the other guys yard...why come here and piss and moan.....because they are unhappy with themselves and have no idea how to change it around other than being negative all the time.....again, my advice to those people (even though I wasn't asked) is to go back to the greener grass from whence thou came....even if you only came for a beer, if I walk into a bar and I don't like it there I leave and don't go back.....why punish yourself with something you are unhappy with....move on and start a new life somewhere else without all the bitterness and bad negative vibes and sarcasm.....it seems that we are getting some of the dregs from the kegs........

Maybe the sites are getting ready for the HUGE overhall when Nagra3 goes in full and they are updating mirrors and adding bandwidth before the eyar is up....

not by the people running the site

but by someone else some of this sites had only a few hundred members and large servers so no reason for downtime

if most sites dont get 20% of members thats because they are no good
during ecms most of the members are here
and we are 275000

other sites would wish they had the amount of active members we have here

Just donated to this wonderful site again last week! Well worth it and I'd recommend to anyone. :thmbup: Been to other sites and this one is by far the best and has best customer service and quick replies. The members here (for the most part) are well educated and always willing to help out. So my money goes to help out this site and whatever else so I don't care. And not that I'm as impatient as some of you who want files 5 minutes after an ECM it is nice to get on and get bin without waiting, especially if big event is on. Thanks to all who help run this site! Happy Thanksgiving!:P

i see 78 different fta boxes listed on the status page you know the guys / gals who make the boxes at a conservative profit ratio of for arguement sake 100$ a box the people who have so much cash that funding the coders to crack the fta code often in just hours (just to look better than your compatition and sell more more more)and nobody has figured out how to get any fund$ from them ? not even enough to run a web site ? no advertiseing no redirects no popups no surveys no support links ..not one single idea to generate cash off the ones who have it ..all the time building up box manufac business and sales and the consumer gets the PBS rap ...if you dont donate now all this fine progaming will self destruct and you will have to pay for cable shmuck ...is a win win solution even possible ?

Hmmm... How can I say... Well just put it this way. I was one of the guys from the Nfusion and Coolsat home site and it's down. I believe there are quite a few from which I came from that are here now. We do have info on why it's down but we are not sure if its the truth or just rumor on why it was down. The ticker which I have installed from the site I'm speaking of says this: "A whole new way of life is about to begin and we will prepare for the future so be ready to learn a few new tricks to better protect yourself and everyone else" This was posted on the toolbar ticker on 11/11/2008.

What most people don't understand, is that along with the amount of traffic trying to get onto a site at the same time, ( the numbers of the parts are much bigger than the sum of the whole), there is the possibility of server problems...the server may be too small or not equipped to handle the demand....

For the amounts of $$$ we are all saving with the help and knowledge of this site and their great supportive members, the small monthly fee per month should be chicken-feed compared to a "full" paid subscription service. You can count on me to keep this place up and running. I know others feel the same way.

If a provider was to pay a hacker indirectly They could hit sites fast. It is really hard to be able to track down a hacker. And no one would know why.

It has been gone for over a month now and people including in this thread earlier talked about the closed down homesite. Someone mentioned that it would be disrespectful to this site by talking about why it is gone. I do not agree that it would be disrespectful, because it is gone! If it was still there that would be different. Personally I think it would be a good read as compared to yet another C/P of some sites in Hong Kong giving up the list of IP's of people who downloaded 3rd party software from their site. I'm sure someone knows the truth and it would be interesting to know why. Absolutely No Disrespect to FTABINS inferred or intended.

Some of the non mentioned sites are starting to come back. Still havn't heard what made them crash. But coming back after 2 days is a good sign. Bad sign is still the big one that went down 3 weeks ago and still nothing. Do not even get a message any more from there. This is a warning to everyone, do not be involved with postings that asked what nick you are using on any site if you are now using something different. For now it is important that everyone keep their head low and trust no one. We again have not been busted, served, or anything else but I will tell you the enemy is closer to you than you think. 90 % + sites are under the enemies control so like I said duck and keep your heads low and I will let everyone know what is going on when it is safe enough. For those that are worried about the sites db all I can say is hell never froze over and the red button was pushed.

I did not say I was going to report you to the site sponsors. I think it is rather odd that a Mod of a site would support clones and that site sponsors should know about this. i've looked at a few other sites before,but this is my main site .i get all of my files here and i have since i've been testing.this is the only site that i really trust,the people here are great people.and i do donate to this site and this is the only site that i donate to.......ftabins a great site to support...

i to have noticed that other sites are down one in perticular gave the message it would be down between 12 and 24 hours to change a server but its been 2 weeks. so i to am wondering whats going on and whether or not it will afect this site to?sorry if i offend anybody wiht my observations!

This thread has gotten way off track. As for those who wonder why FTABins has a donation system you obviously don't understand how much bandwidth costs for a reliable hosting company located outside of the normal places dish can easily get their hands on. If we had gone cheap and hosted it in NA you wouldn't be here on the forum now. FTABins is also not involved with any manufacturer, that means we don't get money from them and you don't get your threads disappeared if you speak bad of their boxes. I think anyone who was on f2 knows what I'm talking about. If you don't like how the forum is run, or the rules, then you can leave. Anyway, thread closed.
