Flip-Flop

Fluctuations in the magnetic field have occurred in several far-flung regions of Earth, the researchers found.
In 2003 scientists found pronounced changes in the magnetic field in the Australasian region. In 2004, however, the changes were focused on Southern Africa.
The changes "may suggest the possibility of an upcoming reversal of the geomagnetic field," said study co-author Mioara Mandea, a scientist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam.
Earth's magnetic field has reversed hundreds of times over the past billion years, and the
process could take thousands of years to complete.
The decline in the magnetic field also is opening Earth's upper atmosphere to intense charged particle radiation, scientists say.
Satellite data show the geomagnetic field decreasing in the South Atlantic region, Mandea said, adding that an oval-shaped area east of Brazil is significantly weaker than similar latitudes in other parts of the world.
"It is in this region that the shielding effect of the magnetic field is severely reduced, thus allowing high energy particles of the hard radiation belt to penetrate deep into the upper atmosphere to altitudes below a hundred kilometers (62 miles)," Mandea said.
This radiation does not influence temperatures on Earth. The particles, however, do affect technical and radio equipment and can damage electronic equipment on satellites and airplanes, Olsen of the Danish space center said.

LMAO That's good:lol:
I think by upcoming they are talking in geological time where upcoming means in this case a few thousand years.
But I worry about all those poor confused birds flying around lost, maybe by then we can have them fitted out with little gps's.:)

The butterflies will be heading for Alaska rather than Mexico.

Interesting read Amigo......Thanks....I guess that means we will all get neutralized or neutered...I can never get that straight ......

could it be...that with all the giga/tera watts of 50/60 hz power thats increasing every year... perhaps we are begining to destroy the earths magnetism. that is, maybe its behaving as a giant collective degaussing coil. perhaps its time someone asks the question to an astrophysicist. nah

That is an Outstanding question, My instincts tell me that the AC Fields being generated would have a pretty small influence on the considerable Mass of the core of the earth.
Of course the changes they are talking about here are pretty much cyclical as discovered by analyzing core samples for magnetic bias.
But back to the possible influence of all of the 50/60 cycle lines at a fairly high level.
I would be interested in an experiment, involving a given mass of material, of the same general make up as the core, and magnetize it to a level simulating the real thing, then have a degaussing coil and apply a Field calibrated to simulate the calculated Field of all power lines, and measure the loss of polarized field strength, of the simulated Core material.
Of course the details would be many lol.
Once again thinking out-loud lol.
Thanks for asking a great question!
