For all who may be confused about N3..

N3 is NOT a new satellite,it is also NOT a new channel or a new receiver. N.A.G.R.A 3, aka N3, is a new encryption route the providers are switching to in order to combat signal piracy. Bev is already fully implemented and is currently non watchable except via IKS (without PPV and XXX). Dish has just recently begun implementation..And no matter what anyone says, what you read anywhere else or what your friend's brother in laws sisters monkey says:

DO NOT be fooled by tempting adds and forum subscriptions of any sort..trust only what you read here, we let you know what you need to know


Except for old timers, most of you have never seen a nag switch.
There is no need to keep posting (I lost channel xxx, how do I get it back?
We all know the providers are switching to nag3. You will lose more & more channels until they are all gone. You will get scrambled channels, sound but no video, ect. All that is to be expected during a switch, there is nothing you can do about it except making sure the channel loss is not on your end.

As time goes on, rumors will surface like you have never seen. You will also see many scams.

Example:
XXX site has the fix & is going to a pay site..
N3 was hacked by a monkey in China, he has the hack for sale, we need money..
The monkey opened a private site , only $500.98 to join..
Were working on a fix.
We almost have the fix, we just need to tweak it, but ran out of money..
Private site, fix will be released next week...
X has bought the fix...
XX doesn't want to pay for the fix..
Your receiver won't work for N3, buy this one...
Keys will work...
My friend's uncle"s sisters, cousin has the fix, all channels wide open...
I think you get my drift...

Keep your old receivers,we don't know what will work & what won't. If you have to have a new unit, buy a $100 one until this is over..

FTABINS.NET has a very experienced staff, the seniors have been thru these changes from the F card to N1, N2 & now N3.
We know where to look for bins & info, We have enough experience to know fact from rumors & scams.
Let us do our jobs & you will see facts on FTABINS.NET, not rumors.
If you see posts about N3, leave them where you find them, trust me, the staff seen those post before you did. If they were worth posting, the staff would have posted them.

The staff will be very busy, searching for info to keep you up to date. We will not have time to correct useless post by ppl who have no idea what they posted. These post will clutter up the site & the staff will not have the time to deal with them.
Expect these type post to be deleted & infractions will be given to repeat offenders.

You all knew this was coming, you should have a back up.

On March 13th DN held a retailer chat. Unfortunately I forgot about it and when I found out it was on the chat was almost over. Because of this I had to wait for a replay to be aired.

So now I am watching the replay and reporting items of interest from this retailer chat.

I apologize for the delay in getting this retailer chat recap up, but the good news is not much of anything to report.

The show opens and they start talking about Team Summit. A bulk of the first half of the show is dedicated to Discussing Team Summit which is DN's big retailer event which will be held this year in Denver.

From there they go and talk about channel launches, and start with HD local cities which have launched in February. Jim says in about 90 days there will be a bunch more HD local launches and a few of them will be simulcast on both Eastern Arc and Western Arc however no list is given.

They then go over the national HD channel launches. Jim says that they are looking at serveral HD expansions over the next few months. Then a slide is shown is the next wave of HD channels coming (all the Viacom channels). Jim says more national HD is coming.

After that they switch to talking about marketing (nothing really exciting here)

They then talk about DSL and Wildblue sales... again nothing important here...

DN will be updating their website for retailers (about damn time!) so that it support IE 7, Firefox, Safari and Netscape. Currently the website only worked correctly with IE 6, so this is a major step forward!


From there they talk about the Smart Card upgrade going on. Whats interesting is they say they can not send smart cards to PO Boxes. May 1st is the deadline for upgrading commercial accounts. Some services such as adult and premium will be switched over to the new security within the next few weeks. The complete switchover will be done by the start of the 3rd quarter.

Looks Like sometime Between June-August N3 Switch will be complete so just prepare yourself.:) Remember this is Estimated.

The dates in parentheses are when reminder pop-up messages will begin appearing on an affected customer’s TV screen.

4/1/09 = Adult programming (pop-up reminder messages begin 3/18). DOWN N3

4/8/09 = HD programming, Starz, and Encore (pop-up reminder messages begin 3/25).DOWN N3

4/15/09 = Latino programming, Showtime, HBO, and Cinemax (pop-up messages for Latino begin 3/25 and for Showtime, HBO, and Cinemax begin 4/1). DOWN N3

4/22/09 = Classic Gold 250 (pop-up reminder messages begin 4/8).DOWN N3

4/29/09 = Classic Silver 200 (pop-up reminder messages begin 4/15).DOWN N3

Many of you have been popping on the forums lately thinking that your system is down when in fact you are not. What you are actually experiencing a current loss of channels due to the forthcoming completion of the N3 switch over. So far, Bev, Dish International channels and Adults have all switched to N3 encryption. There is presently no Fix available..so please refrain from asking.

It began with channels dropping at a constant rate on the Canadian system BEV, however it has now began to mean channel loss on the American system DN as well. What happens is they slowly move channels from the current N2 to the new N3 system, until all channels have been moved, at which point the current one will cease to operate.

Providers do these kinds of swaps in order to combat piracy and secure their networks. By switching the channels from one system to another in a slow manner, they are trying to ensure that everyone who has a legitimate subscription receives their new hardware card so that they can access the new system. This also creates aggravation for FTA users because no manufacturer will release a fix until the swap is completely finalized.

The concern on most people's hands seems to be whether their current FTA receiver unit will function on the new system. The answer is more than likely to be yes indeed it will. All that basically needs to be done is that some coding group needs to crack the keys of the current system, embed it into a new fix, and your box will be working again in no time. Rest assured, there will be a solution to the N3 issue in no time.

In the coming weeks, there will be a multitude of sat scams saying that they have the N3 fix and other BS. Don't believe a word any one says. When the fix is released, it will be released here and it won't cost you a dime, so don't fall for any profit seeker's promises of wide open television.

Right now there's no definite answer but hopefully in the coming days there will be more discoveries taking place that will lead us closer and closer to the complete solution for the new system. We will do our best to keep you up to date!

Most of us are estimating some down time, how much? we don't know exactly..so please sit back, be patient and visit our forums often.
