I am really not sure on how to post it here because i do not want to get flammed but there is another site out there that alot of people use to get bins from. I know why should we go anywhere else but this is the reason i am putting it here. Because i have seen bin files on this site with the file they include in their zip files that show it came from that site as well.

Anyways this site has now hotlinked their files to sites that we have all been warned about

Now comes the question how do i warn you guys about the site but don't break any rules about listing urls..

If a mod could pm me i would send you the url and you could adjust this post accordingly.

The site puts fixes out for alot of stb's and the top section where they list new files hotlink other sites that we have been warned about.

The files on their sites are hotlinked to other sites that we have been warned about i know alot of people go there to get bins plus i have seen files on here that have been downloaded from that site in question.

They just changed yesterday and now alot of their fixes they usually put on their site are hotlinked to sites that may get you caught

god i hope it is nothing but then again that is why i pm a mod about it

seen people use words like future or truefta etc. that should be enough info and I've seen people do it often without issue

yeah i have too but sent a pm to a mod hopefully they will shine more on this

just name the darn site without making it a live link... If the mods don't want it there, they will remove it.

As i have stated i sent a mod info regarding this matter. Until i get a response i am not going to put the site up till they say it is okay i don't want to violate any rules they have set up. The mod has the info on the site and i am sure he will respond to this thread when it researches it.

As long as your not posting a live link or promoting the site in question then there shouldn't be a problem. If the mods around here have a problem with it they will edit or remove it.

and this is why when i get a chance to upload a file i always open the zip and or rar file to make sure there is not a readme file that has that info and or a link, or anything like that, and if there is I always take them out, even when they try and put passwords on them...hint hint... there was a ilink pdf post by a member that had passwords on it for another site... lol i can care less this is my Fav. site

Okay the mod approved me to list the site in question.

The site is currentbins

on their main site you have 2 sections a top and the bottom the top section has new files that are listed by reciever and if you click the recievers you will go to another page that listes fixes for that unit brands... some of those fixes are hotlink to other sites where you download from while remaining on currentbins... sites like

completefta
ftafuture

Now at the bottom of currentbins you will notice reciever sections once again the files there are not hot linked to other sites they are on the currentbins server...

Just found it odd and yes we have all be warned about some of them sites and some of the ones that are currentbins are the ones we have been warned about the reason why i post it here is because some files uploaded here have been downloaded from currentbins because they put a html file in there zip folders showing where the bin came from..

This was a common practice years ago to save on bandwidth these days some sites do this more due to legalities or basically to save there ass especially if there usa based. Some sites don't have the resources to set up offshore hosting so this is another alternative. And no I don't agree with this practice but it's quite common.

Well my thoughts were they are all owned by the same person is what i was thinking... Just trying to get the word out there some more that these sites exist and that they are not safe at all

Your concern is much appreciated.
We see this from time to time. Checking the files is an ongoing job the Mods do. With the members help, it gets easier.

No problem this site has some rules that i did not want to go against that is the reason why i pm some mods about this issue i just wanted everyone to stay clear even though we have told them over and over again it does help to keep it out there once more even though my posts are low i am not new to the game seen alot come and go and alot of sites shut down and go underground and alot of irc channels vanish...

Iffy all i was doing was warning others about sites that are out there. Seems like your the one that don't want the information brought to the public eye but then again who am i to judge all i am saying is that everyone needs to becareful about it. And if a mod did not think it should be posted i am sure that it would be gone already.

Did not want to get under your skin, but you should have just pm'd a mod yourself instead of putting it out and sort of accusing this site. I may be wrong and if I am I appologize. But out of concern for the site that has been the best out of all of them, I thought I would post what I posted. Again, sorry if you were offended. Just be on the up and up......and then like a name like marinesniper, you might want to shoot this site out of the water.

onzog, I don't see a problem with looking out for members best interests and that is all MarineSniper is doing.
Don't turn it into some kind of conspiracy or something.
The main point of the thread is to always check files before uploading them to ftabins and the side note is to always be careful and protect yourself when browsing some fta sites. That's it, nothing more.

No offense taken It took some time to get the mods to approve the post before i would name the site in question. As for accusing this site nope never did all i said was i have seen files uploaded to this site that had been downloaded from the site in question.

The reason i put this thread out there is to ensure all the ones downloading please check your files and help the mods out and also to let those out there know that more and more sites are becoming risky when you go download unless you download from here.

I know that it gets rough when ecms and other things happen the site becomes flooded but just be patient and get your file from a trust worthy site i don't mind waiting for a file when things get busy.

they dont link to fake BL site
they just have many names for same site all in same servers

last time i checked more than 10 but all in the same servers
and owned by same people

good to warn peeps from us based sites but i dont see any real danger from that site
you dont even have to register to download files

this site is better but no need to talk bad about other sites

if they would linking to other sites we all know then i would say something different about it
